FMS & SFMA Certification

FMS & SFMA Certification

CES is the only licensed Functional Movement certification facility in Minneapolis and serves as the Midwest Regional Hub for FMS Accreditation. In addition to requiring that all CES employees are FMS certified, CES conducts multiple FMS and SFMA certification courses each year to those interested in continuing their education within the personal training and physical rehabilitation fields. We also offer off site training to groups looking to enhance the knowledge base of their entire staff in a smaller setting. CES also conducts FMS Assessments for a variety of amateur and professional athletic teams. Currently CES has an ongoing relationship with the Minnesota Wild and their Player Development System to provide ongoing FMS screening and fitness assessments.

The next FMS certification course hosted by CES will take place this April 2012. Level 1 and 2 combo April 13-15.

The SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) is designed for Medical Credentialed Professionals who want to implement a movement based approach to treating pain.

The SFMA Level 1 course introduces the material for the foundation of the SFMA, The Big 7 movements and breakout assessments. This course allows the health care professional to evaluate painful movements, determine the source of the pain and perform manual therapy and neuromuscular exercise techniques to treat the painful condition

FMS

The FMS (Functional Movement System) simplifies the concept of movement and its impact on the body. It is a streamlined system that has benefits for everyone involved-individuals, exercise professionals, and physicians.

Some of the techniques used by the FMS program include, but are not limited to, Communication, Evaluation, Standardization, Safety, and Corrective Strategies.
